is "the gate" a random boss? on which stage do i find him? its my last missing achievement to beat him with no troops left - thanks :)

Yes, it is an Act 1 random boss. Try to start a new run again until it is the boss fight. Scroll the map and then it should be there or alternatively The Wall.

Thanks, i slightly remembered that but got very unlucky, started like 5-8 new runs yet
