Strange Startup Behavior

[Shooting Crimson]

I'm not sure what's happening, but after the newest version, every time I launch the game, it spikes my CPU temps, then after a few seconds it comes back down. Is this happening to anyone else?

Texture setting is high, everything else is medium or lower.

Yes the game definitely has some performance degradation after the last upgrade. I only noticed because I am constantly running more than 1 game and if Drop Duchy is running in the background it kills the performance of the other game. Not sure what's causing that.
