Hard game ?
Hey guys :) Playing on easy difficulty. Cannot get past level 3 boss. It would be easier if the cards you pick before battle actually turn up !! THere are always a couple of crucial military buildings that simply don't show. Which of course leaves you outnumbered by the enemy....
Any tips would be gratefully appreciated :)

Hello, it can be quite hard indeed but as you figure out the system and the strategies, it'll get easier don't worry! Are you placing all the pieces on the grid? Because you have enough room to place everything and therefore get all of your buildings if you don't leave the grid
The game does have an annoying tendency to have the buildings bunch up at the end. I'm aware that this is probably a consequence of using fair RNG to sort them, but fair RNG does not necessarily make for good game feel. I think it would be better if the deck was sorted with less true randomness and instead with something that is more biased to an even distribution.
Yes indeed, i just played a boss fight where i had 5 military buildings ,,And they were the last five i got in hand !!
This isn’t possible, the algorithm spreads your buildings evenly in the three thirds of the deck, and you can also never get your buildings in the last 3 cards of the round. Getting 5 buildings at the end is impossible
I just had game against Act 1 boss where I had a Watchtower and a lot of plains but RNG kept giving me river and enemy buildings and my own military buildings - and then the farm. By that time the route, which had tried to keep open, had to been closed. Didn't go well. Well, I did won but about 20 hit points left.
I stand corrected. It's not fair RNG (which is a good thing).
I just had a game where my Belfry and my city center were at the very end of the pile back to back during the final boss so I had trouble finding opportunity to build my town with them.

I've also had a situation where I got a Combat Farm x2, Watch Tower, Enemy Strategic Pavillion x2, and wasteland blocks for the first blocks of a game. Does the game differentiate the different terrains or does it only look for any terrain type when randomly selecting which blocks go next? Because the RNG can be absolutely atrocious sometimes.

Another match I played had a single forest piece at the start, then literally every other forest piece was at the end. Convenient for me because I only use forests to clear land so having just rivers and plains allowed me to separate the two and build massive farms but still!
If I had a build which relied on forests, that match would have been over. No hope of saving it.

I usually focus on;
>Only take combat maps, and try to always have the last enemy piece in the bank by the end so it doesn't get placed.
>Maxing the starter farm, watch tower, and tree cutter cards first
>Try and get a tax office for money generation which will make the game SUBSTANTIALLY easier because spending gold increases your chances of getting good cards
>Focus on obtaining tech cards, OR getting these building cards;
-Alarm Tower (Can easily get 60 units when enemy doesn't hard counter it.)
-Watch Tower (Can easily get 40+ units when placed by farms, but needs a ton of resources to level)
-Militia Base (Can easily get 30-40 units if you have a lot of production buildings)
-Carpenter (Can easily get you hundreds of wood easy)
-Horse Stable
-Strategic Pavilion (Doesn't really get THAT many troops but gets enough to be reliable)

Then, I ALWAYS take extra damage in exchange for resources since you can often heal yourself from the money gained from tax office OR trade station before the boss.

And since you're not timed for placing blocks, focus on planning the best layouts for all the upcoming blocks before actually placing them :cinnamon2: :nekoheart:
Do that and it should all work out just fine :shigure2: :nekoheart:
Also, the "Old Tower" is great for the 2nd Act but I often choose mountains to be removed for the 3rd Act so I wouldn't normally recommend it. I also don't really like the other stone buildings but they're pretty good as well.
Terrain type is purely random, shapes are controlled though, and player/enemy buildings are evenly spaced. You can definitely get unlucky, that’s undeniable

So getting 3-4 enemy buildings in the first 12 cards of a boss fight (first boss, 25 cards, normal difficulty) is normal? Because I'm trying to get just two enemy cards until I can get something set up, and it's not going that way. Even with my level 3 watch tower, level 3 forest clearer, and level 3 fortified farm, I only get up to 67 with the tower (if my other two buildings are close in a square with it) and the 15 for the fortified farm, I don't have enough damage to do 22x3 + 40 to the boss with the board maxed out.
