Rust not working well on a Mac.
I have an M1 Mac mini and Rust does not work well on it. Once I am in a game It can rust between 30 and 50 FPS and Very low settings. There is also an issue of it taking about 10 minutes to load into a server (I am loading into an official server). There is also some issues when you launch the game; when you launch the game it is not in full screen even when you set it to full screen, you need to hit the full screen and then hit it again. When you quit the game it will always crash.

In my opinion I think that Rust should not be listed to work on Mac. Sadly I spent too much time on the one server to realize all of the issues and can not return the game.

don't ruin it for the rest of us Mac users. They should list the degraded performance. I have 15.5k+ hours playing Rust almost exclusively on Mac and would LOVE 30-50fps. I have played typically with 20-30fps on low pop, not even a high pop map. Every 15 mins, we also get dropped into single digit fps due to a Unity issue doing garbage collecting.

Have you lowered your resolution? That helps a lot, but as of this wipe, I am using GeForce Now for almost all my time playing. It does let me play at much higher FPS. Works well assuming you have decent Wifi or hardwired internet.

(Reason I say not to ruin it for the rest of us: Linux was originally supported as well but eventually had so many issues (largely, I believe, due to issues in Unity game engine) that they stopped supporting it all together. I had a few Linux players on my server.)

I think that that backs up my point even more. Now I don't know what Mac you are running on, but that would show that it is not running well on Mac.
Hey! I would love to recommend you with (Geforce Now). It connects you to a supercomputer by using your internet speed, giving you better fps and overall better quality. :):steamhappy:

That is a good idea, but I am not sure what games come with the free account. Since I already have the game would I be able to use that?

This last update made Rust run a good amount better, loading times were more with what I would expect, and it ran at about the same performance with less stutters even on higher graphics settings. There is still the issue of the game crashing when I exit the game, I am not sure what is causing it, but mac os says that it is not responding when I quit the game.

When you clowns gonna realise Apple does NOT want you playing gams on THEIR computers.

if you went out and paid $200usd for an old macpro 2012 cheese cutter , you would get better performance...

That is actually a really good idea. Do you play on Mac?

yes that is why i suggested it....
also i can play on that mac AND i can run a server at the SAME time.
AND run Studio for plugin dev....

"load time" is a function of map generation & sync.. the biggest being map gen.
rust works by each end generating a map from a seed (unless its a custom map)
that is a massively cpu bound process... and rust is bound to a single core
so get a fan app and keep ur mac cpu as cool as possible, DO NOT rely on apples ♥♥♥♥♥♥ software to cool your cpu... it WONT WORK, it must be force cooled.

Then you get off wifi DO NOT use a mac with wifi for games.
Apple DELIBERATLY f**ked over their WIFI systems...
Only a limited group know the truth, Ii did some seminal research on this about 2-3 years ago... with a major WIFI AP manufacturer.

Really this needs a class action... but i'm not in the US
