MacOS Rust won't start because of "Easy Anti-Cheat Launch Error"
I just bought Rust in Steam on MacOS Sonoma 14.1.2. When I attempt to start it, it immediately prompts with a modal titled "Easy Anti-Cheat Launch Error". The message says "Failed at essential procedures, please run the system repair."

There's no option for a "System Repair" but only an "OK" button.

I've found guides in the internet about:
  • verifying local file integrity - did that
  • reinstalled the game - did that
  • going to local files "EasyAntiCheat" folder and run the setup.exe with repair. Well, there's no executable file in that folder on MacOS.

My husband has Rust installed on the exact same Mac in his user account's Steam and it is working there. Does anyone have any clues for me of how to get EAC to launch properly in my account with my Steam client?

I do not have an answer for you.

This exact thing is happening for me with 7D2D. I have been playing for over a year without any problems, now all of a sudden EAC is blocking me from joining games I have successfully played. I have not been banned or caused any thing to get a ban. What is going on with EAC and how can we fix it?

I know on mac the actual folders you need to remove to clean out EAC is a bit hidden. Not just the normal ones under steam. I would google removing EAC and reinstalling on MacBook Pro. If I can find it and can find this post again I will link. Just know they are in application data hidden folders at least. I have 20k hours 99% on MacBook Pro. I have had similar EAC issue long time ago but none on my M1Max MacBook on either of the versions of OS.

i just spent $3000 on a mac studio M3 with 32gb ram etc etc... and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Rust wont rundue to this error..WTF. Seriously? cmon, steam, please fix this, for real.
+1 Having the same issue!
It seems to throw on non-primary mac users. I gave admin permissions to the new user and also additional permissions for Steam (if that could make any difference) but the error remains.
I tried to clear ALL steam, rust, facepunch data from all accounts. I logged in on a new admin account, installed steam, rust, and it still throws the same error. EAC executable is throwing this and I'm out of ideas how to make it running having multiple mac os accounts :(
