Worse performance on Radeon 5500M than 5300M?
Hi,

I just swapped my MBP 16" (base model with 6-core i7 / Radeon Pro 5300M) for the slightly bigger version (8-core i9 / Radeon Pro 5500M) because I wanted a bigger hard drive.

Turns out, Rust actually runs WORSE on the "better" machine? On the previous one, I got a solid 45fps at 1792x1120 (default quality settings, VSync ON). Game ran and felt pretty smooth. On the new machine, however, I'm only getting about 22fps (same settings, same server), and the game feels noticeably choppy.

Has anyone else experienced this?

check on some of the throttling issues the macbook i9s had. i think they had an update, though, that corrected it in Catalina. My older macbook pro retina had thermal issues that dropped my fps huge. I have only ever been able to run at 1440x900 in typically potato mode. Used to get high 20s-30 fps or so. Dropped to teens or single digits. Took it in since i had couple months left on applecare (company had paid for it) and they gutted fixing that issue. I hope thermal isn't your issue, but i bet it may still be cpu throttling.

I have the same MBP as u (5500m) and I have a fix 70 fps in game!
First of all, turn all the graphic settings to the minimum (1500 drow distance and 100 for tree mashes) turn of the vsync and it needs to be work
