Game crashes when joining a server

So I've played before no issues and decided to reinstall since I have some free time. Ever since I've reinstalled the game will crash while loading into a server. Usually at asset warmup, but also while loading in the world. I've tried verifying the game files, deleting the appdata info and steamapps leftovers and reinstalling, changing the graphics settings but nothing seems to help. My graphics drivers are also up to date and I'm running at 32gb so there shouldn't be a memory issue. The strange thing is that when the game crashes it also crashes steam. It also caused my web browser to temporarily say it was out of memory as well? I'm not having issues with anything other than rust. Honestly any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I had the same problem as you, 12GB RAM, and 8GB swap file. The game on low graphics filled up both RAM and SWAP. I installed 12GB SWAP on the SSD and the bug disappeared. It's funny, but in the game itself it fills the RAM by about 50-60%.
Try installing 15-20GB SWAP, I think due to a bug when loading the game, it takes up more memory than it should

So i figured out my problem was with using multiple monitors. Try disconnecting all but your main monitor. Turns out having two monitors with different refresh rates (one at 60hz and another at 240hz) causes issues with some games. Hopefully that helps.

The same thing happens to me and I can't find a solution anywhere.
I don't understand how the game can close itself when the server fully loads and is about to enter. On top of that it doesn't leave any message, it just closes.
I have played for 600 hours and never had any problems, but now that I'm playing again this happens.
I already tried uninstalling it 3 times and it didn't fix it.

managed to solve it.
I went to the local files where rust is installed, deleted the folder, then emptied the trash, went to steam, right clicked on rust - manage and uninstall.

Same problem like yours guys, this game crashes in the time of asset warmup. My gpu drive is up to date, ram is 16gb. Even I've uninstalled then reinstalled the game 3times. But nothing changed at all. Now I started thinking that 20$ of mine is just a lose

I had the same problem, I ended some apps with Task manager (cntrl + shift +esc), cleared some cache on steam and pc and restared my pc. Also lowered some setting on Rust (video, graphics,etc) and then it worked.

Or maybe this video could help out. None of the tips worked for me but it worked for some people.

Yeah I've been dealing with the same issue the last couple of days on Rust only. I assume at this point it's some EAC BS. Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900K, 3000 Mhz, 24 Core(s), 32 Logical Processor(s), 32GB ram, RTX 4090 GPU. I've gone through every step I could find in forums, reddit, youtube, and elsewhere. I 90% have the game close at the last step to finalize world before load in. Sometimes it closes a little prior to that. I have had a couple of successful log ins where I've entered world but then game closes out 3 mins later. No error codes. I'm kind of at a loss at this point.
