Rust
Stuck - "Opening Bundles" or "Waiting on Background Video"
I either get stuck on the message "Opening Bundles" with ~1770 FPS and my GPU going wild with ~95% usage or it sticks on "Waiting on Background Video".
Meaning that I do not even load the main menu.

Does anyone know any fixes or ways around this?

(The last time I had "Waiting on Background Video" I think it was fixed randomly with a reinstall, so for now, I guess I will just choke up some bandwidth and smash my hard drives by deleting and reinstalling it repeatedly.)

My install does the same thing.
Stuck on Opening Bundles, and GPU just going wild, just chomping away on my video copy chips. https://i.imgur.com/FsqIABm.png

Why are there so many bugs before the game even loads?
  • "Opening Bundles"
  • "Waiting on Background Video"
  • "Loading Menu UI"

We aren't even in the game yet.

The devs are clueless and don't care. See Linux support, awful optimization, rushed out updates.

When the game still ran for me, I barely got 130 FPS in Outpost and that's with affinity set to 8 5.3GHz P-cores and 4000-16-16-16-35 RAM. They are truly lost.

I basically have a machine that is future proof for like the next decade, can not even run rust :lunar2019crylaughingpig: :lunar2019crylaughingpig: :lunar2019crylaughingpig: :lunar2019crylaughingpig:
Okay. I am giving up on Rust and closing my server.
We will go over to Project Zomboid next.
guessing this still happens?

yes
I fixed it by making sure Steam was up to date (it wasn't). If you press "Steam" then "check for client updates" it shouldn't give an error saying updates are being suppressed.

Up to date and tried Steam Beta.
Did not fix this.

I have the same problem now. Wanted to get back on the game after years of not touching it (it was uninstalled), and it's the same thing. If I take the latest month patch, it works (though all servers are empty).

So is there a fix or what ?
None I know about.
We gave up and are playing other games.
Well, guess I will have to do the same.
same, updated to the new goofy steam client, like fully removed steam from my pc and installed the new version. nothing. even tried beta steam, nothing :(
I have the same issue on Windows, but interestingly enough on Linux the game starts just fine, except if I use an older version of Proton.
