so if you logged on that server before, and they recently changed their maps... your computer's trying to load that OLD SERVER file back in the game, and it can't... because the NEW FILE MAP is trying to download in its place...
so the Maps are "Mismatched" just go in your Maps folder under Rust, and delete the corresponding Map name, and it will download from the New map from steam>
Example: C:\Program Files (x??)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rust\maps\yourmapname.map
And Delete it!!! After that your not gonna have any problem... (yourmapname.map) it's gonna created by it self. It's going to create a new one based in the server (.map) save file! If the Steam save file it's different than the one on the server you're gonna have the same error (World File Mismatch Error).

"Whenever you make changes to your map you should give it a new unique name when hosting it in-game. Add V2.0 to the name. If you do not then your original first map will still be within your local game files, when connecting to the server it will respond with the .map name and if your client detects the same name it will attempt to load the already downloaded old version of the file. Resulting in you attempting to load a different version than the server, causing file mismatch error. Alternatively you can delete the .map file within your Rust install directory. This is unlikely to be possible for all players who play your server."
c:\programfiles (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\rust\maps
basically you just go in and delete everything from that folder. not sure why other proc maps are conflicting with whatever map you're trying to download, but that was the fix for me. once you delete the files, verify your game integrity and relaunch the game once that's finished. you should be able to load in no problem
Can anyone explain why people are saying to delete the file? If you delete it, how will it load? I am getting this error after editing a spawn point on a map in RustEdit and saving it in exactly the same location it was before, and it had worked just minutes before, and after adjusting a spawn point I saved and then closed RustEdit and started the server and now cant load. And again, deleting it doesnt seem to be an option because then it has no map file to load....
