Electrics - Root combiners problem
Root combiners only work when you use them directly after a power source, and if you use them after anything else (I tried blockers and switches etc.) they wont turn on and combine power or even passthrough anything. I'm not gonna explain why this is an issue but this situation combined with their nature of using power even when nothing is connected to their output, makes small batteries not an option when you need more than 10units of power constantly using tier 1 electric devices ( i mean small batteries and solar panels).

I just want to add to this by saying; you can connect batteries in series but instead of increasing the power output like it would in real life, it just makes a bigger battery.

If batteries worked in the game like they do in real life, root combiners would be less of an issue.

You can add Small Battery in your net right before Combiner. It is not perfect and power will be not stable, but it's works.

P.s. I hope it will be fixed.

cant we just rename them power combiners and rewrite then not to consume power ?

Root combiners are just that. They combine root devices like generators, windmills and solar panels. That their sole purpose. Batteries might be included but I would have to test it out first.

A simple solution to the battery and root combiner problem would be to simply charge the battery and stop losing power when the drain is less than the charge and lose power when the drain is more than the charge.

With the latest update it has gotten way better...
Combiners cost 1 per battery... so 2 cost

This is still ♥♥♥♥♥♥. I want to create automatic lights while using solar and wind. To do that I need an electrical branch for the solar, before connecting that and the wind to a root combiner. so they can charge the batteries Because there is an electrical branch before the root combiner, it won't work.

I have automatic lights, they work just fine for me.

I just use an OR Switch to connect the two, i read this discussion and thought the battery option was too limiting, so i tried the OR switch to combing my power from the solars and the windmill
edit: i use the root combiners on the roots, and the OR switch further down the line
