I usually hide my charcoal and consider it as valuable as sulfur.
However i`ve seen zergs bypass all of that by spamming over 100 small furnaces around their compound wall on wipe day.
You should always automate 6 small furnaces + 1 oil refinery (wood goes from one big box to them and back as charcoal) or make automated large furnace base on the side. Explosives and mlrs should be dropped less frequently and slowed down, walls/doors hp should be higher to prolong sustainability. Only then the charcoal production should be faster. Raids should be something you plan carefully for at least a day. As of now I can solo raid 2-4 bases a day. I guess our opinions differ on this matter.
