Security Cameras. Phone App to View out of game.
Here is an idea that might get people more involved. With the addition of electricity allow people to place CCTV cameras around their base and view them through a CCTV Monitor inside their base. IF POSSIBLE, Let people view these cameras from their smart phones or tablets from a game app.

This.

I honestly don't see such a feature being very useful. You can't respond to a threat if there is one from your phone. And if there is one, chances are you aren't at home for it.

The phone app part was just an added thing. It doesnt need a phone app. Just the security cameras and a CCTV montior would be good.

It’s just impractical.

Let's think about what would be required to do something like this. First, how would you view a camera feed in game? Your computer needs to use the game's assets to render the scene which your monitor is displaying. That means you would need an install of Rust and all its models and physics on your phone. While you could have a compressed, low quality version of all the models, this would still require building a new engine for your phone to display a dynamic scene. The other option would be to have servers running clients that will monitor every camera in every server. Both options are extremely impractical for a feature like this which would likely only be rarely used.

As far as I can tell, there is no use for cctv cameras other than turrets. Are you trying to suggest adding cctv systems as a base building feature?

I think in some ways it could be interesting setting up cameras in your base and watching through a laptop especially now there’s electricity, but doing it on a phone won’t work especially with some of the reasons raised by doctor.

No it really is not that that easy lol, like doctor has said in one of his responses, ' Your computer needs to use the game's assets to render the scene which your monitor is displaying.' And adding so called 'View Links' is much harder than doing on a complete different platform lol.

I got the idea right, but while I would be happy to see the cameras from a laptop installed in the base in the game. So we would have a room from where to see what happens around or who knocks on the door. And if that is added a drone to explore and I am satisfied.

The security cameras plugin does exist and work, it is a paid rust plugin.
It however does not and will not connect to a mobile device anytime soon.

But players can place security cameras outside of their base and then place a terminal, from the terminal they can view all cameras.

Its actually a really cool plugin and players love it, especially cave basers XD

1. Why would you need this, exactly? You already have shopfronts.
2. The app would make those who have phones have an advantage over those who dont, which is BS.
