Otherwise, if you have a good solid connection, the servers performance is the other side of it, and theres so many things going on there yet nothing you can really do about it.

That's likely your issue.
Getting an ethernet cord is super cheap, I have like 3 of them just in a pile of cords in my closet from previous things I bought over the years...
If you can get that, your speeds will probably jump up. Do a speed test every so often as well to test things out. Try it a few times a day, do it when youre waiting for Rust to load up, etc.
Just type "speed test" in Google and it should have a good built-in checker. Or you can use the old Ookla one which was around for many years before Google added their own. See if you get consistent speeds each time you try it, if not, its probably the ethernet vs wifi issue.
