hm... I don't think you quite got what I meant to say
you kill other people (pvp)
you get pick up "loots" ater you kill your enemy (guns and ammos)
in survival you have to farm for "resources" (guns and ammos)
you fight AI in storymode (pve)
rust however is a hommage to dayz. provided you had read anything about the game. The game was built on survival, combat and building.
read this interview and sit the ♥♥♥♥ down

[Edit]
First question's answer. "We love DayZ and we wanted to make a game like it. So we did. We quickly realized that we couldn't create an explorable world as well done as DayZ so we came up with the idea of having the player create the world. This was the seed that spawned Rust. We really loved the idea of players starting with nothing, and having no goals but to exist in the world."
Yep sounds just like Minecraft. You can't creat any world in Day Z.

p.s.
and with people who build their buildings on spots where advanced stuff is spawned. Idea with spawned blueprints and so on is terrible, it unbalances the game too much, the guy who finds pistol blueprint makes like a time jump for 2 thousand years in future
By that logic Skyrim is like Minecraft too, because the only thing I CAN'T do there is build my own base. Simply sharing similar ideas or sharing some basic generel features does not make them similar.
