Grey screen?

Hey guys. I just bought the game because I am proper excited. But after install when I try to play, I get a grey screen with what looks like a dead smiley and then it automatically shuts off. That is not what I had in mind when spending my money. Can anybody help me?

oh give it time, it does that then loads :P. :P it'l load bud

Hmm, are you saying I have to start the game about 20 times before it actually starts? Or what do you mean?

I had the same issue.
try validate your files and restart the steam.
that helped me
(to validate - right click on Rust in steam / properties - and then click validate files or something like that)

or in properties click on launch options and copy this in:

-force-d3d11

however this didnt worked for me

sometimes it takes like 5 or so minutes :D just grab a beer. smoke, and wait for epic ness :D...well that worked for me

The only problem I have had connecting to a server was during the DDOS attacts. What kind of computer are you trying to run this on?

I'm running on a Windows 7 ultimate 64x OS. Quadcore 3.1GHz. 16GB RAM, Radeon HD 6800series with 4GB.

Well, i'm playing the waiting game now. Running in windowed mode.
