Best way to find friends on servers?

Rust seems best played with friends, but it seems a bit of a problem when it takes so damn long to find them. I see lots of people who use skype playing in groups, any tips on how to find others?

I've heard you can join people through steam friends but it never seems to work for me. What me and my friends have been doing is find a good community server with the options you want (player size, fast craft, etc.) then have your friend scroll through page after page looking for the server name. Tedious the first time yes, but once you all have that server in your history it's easy to meet up.

Also there is a tab for friends in the server list, Can probably just use that to follow people lol

Either find a server with Rust++ (which has a /location command that gives you your coordinates) and/or learn your way around the map. The main play area is the area around the road in the center of the map (which goes in a circle). There are quite a few different landmarks around it, and once you learn of them, you'll be able to start finding your way around pretty easily.

http://rustmap.net/ is a map of Rust's play area (what a surprise!).
http://mf2888.pf-control.de/rustmapmarks/ allows you to create your own private, interactive maps which you can place markers on. These maps can be shared with friends and locked via a password.

We usually just find a road and one of us puts a campfire on the road while the other follows the road since it loops and looks for the lit campfire and we usually find eachother and then we make a place and place sleeping bags down so we don't have to find eachother again.

Hah! Exactly what I do. I just leave 250 wood in the fire, tell my friend to keep walking till he sees the flames and let me know then I'll come to him.

They say to use the ol' "sun rises in the East and sets in the West" but considering the road isn't exactly a perfect circle, it's just not the ideal way.

This is a 6 year old thread. Just put up a post n I’m sure you will find plenty of people to play with. Don’t slave for clans, they won’t help you other then giving you low tier weapons n making you farm. Go on a modded server n ask in chat if someone wants to team, there’s always people willing to team and teach you the game if that’s what your after
