Rust
'Use' key - problem with binding keys
For some reason the default 'E' sill 'uses' an item, even though 'use' gets rebound.
Sure the bug would happen with just about any remapped config. However, I prefer 'typing home keys'. This way my hand is in the same position as if I were typing. WASD & I just are not friends. I scooch them over 1 notch & use ESDF.

Anyhow, for the bug . . . when I walk forward it tries to use an item. And my 'use item' key will work for some things, just not objects. The one best example I can think of is the fire, when adding things for cooking:

To use the fire, I need to 'walk' into it with the 'E' key.

Same thing with kilns, and other container objects.

Me too, what is this? Any work around? Else can we talk about a refund? Never once used WASD keybindings and don't plan to.

try using scroll wheel as the "use" key (:

It's more of the opposite problem for me, I don't need another key to work as 'use' . . . I need one less. When the 'E' key is bound to something else, it still 'uses'.

As far as the refund, I hope they get a class action lawsuit to return money to buyers. It's crap like this that should make the law reconsider consumer laws.

But why? It can't be a surprise to you, that the game is early alpha?

Rebinding worked for me... but I had to do it both in the launcher menu and in the in-game settings.

You're right, I should know better. There are things like twitch.tv and Youtube to see what you're getting into, but what I'm seeing on steam is quite sad. More like just throwing up a concept for a game & charging full price.

We've got a few trees, some grass & a couple boards you can put together. And we're galling this a game? I mean, fps with an idea isn't a game, but they sure are charging full price.

The lesson is buyer beware, but this is more like an abandoned concept, than early access to something that is actually being developed. And not just a few programs like this on the market here.

Fixed it. To go into my problem, when I first started the launcher I noticed you could set up your keys right there. But my Joystick was conflicting with that(everytime the axis reacted and set the key I was trying to bind:P) but 'luckily' there was the ingame options where the problem did not occur.

As stated here, when you set up the 'USE' (E) key for something else, it will still trigger 'USE' plus what ever you set on E. To fix this I tried setting all the alternative bindings to the same as the primary, also directly binding via. the F1 console.

That all didn't work, but when I unplugged my joystick and tried to set the keys also via the launcher menu it fixed the 'USE' issue with the E key! Now why I am writing all my previous steps: I can't confirm if you only need to set the same controls in both settings (Ingame/Launcher) or if it was a combination any or all of my previous steps.

That does not fix anything. It may be a work around, but surely it is not a fix.

You Sir, are very fine at splitting hairs, would you mind to be my hairdresser in the future? I would very much appreciate somebody of your skill!

On topic: Did it 'work around' for you?

I've spent about 40 hours on rust. I've just moved from consoles and i would usually spend £40/£50 for a game and only spend 4 hours i think i got my moneys worth (:

Yet another reason the Euro is over rated. As if a failed European union wasn't enough reason.

I'm talking about the pound (£)
