Mac FPS Fix Found!
After experiencing unplayable lag on a 2010 macbook pro (intel core duo processor) 320m Nvidia graphics, 4gb ram, I found a fix that removed the lag and make the game smooth and playable.

Somewhat counter-intuitively, I set the graphical settings to fantastic and 1024x768 resolution. Once in game, I set graphical rendering to 50 percent (instead of 0 percent) and I went in the console and set 'grass.on false' and 'gfx.all false'.

This fixed the lag.

I believe that by setting graphical settings TOO Low you may put too much pressure on your Cpu and cause worse lag. By finding a middle ground the game balances its self between its usage of your CPU and your GPU, achieving a nice balance and thus removing the lag.

I'm not having FPS issues, and would never be caught dead using a Mac, so this fix isn't for me.... but thank you for sharing some info that others might find helpful. We need more people on the forums like you.

He's talking about having low frames per second, and a chunky-running game. Maybe you're experiencing lag form a poor connection, or just laggy servers due to bad updates?

yea maybe i had a fairly smooth game last night now its the sh its

Then you probably have regular network lag... the kind where you periodically sink into the ground, teleport back to where you were a few seconds ago, get delayed reactions to your actions, etc. That's a connection/server/update issue.

This is so good! Thanks a lot! But which setting is the graphical rendering? can't find it. Nevermind a suberb solution

I hope your right because if this works you just saved me from wasting 20 bucks because i love rust but i dont wanna play it because it takes half an hour just to get into a damn server and plus it doesn't even move smoothly. I would die easily as i cannot defend myself as i will probably die.
