To add to this. How about metal doors in comparison to wood? Can you only take down metal doors with explosives? Also, how many hits for the large and small spiked barricades?

Wooden shelters,wooden doors,baricades,spiked walls can be taken down with many hits using a hatchet etc.

Metal doors, wooden walls and such require c4.

roughly 200 times mate. With 3 people, 3 minutes of hatchet to the door will be enough

Pickaxe will make short work of wooden doors (between 50-100), they can also be broken with hatchets and even stones (That will take a while). Shelters can also be broken and take about twice as many hits as doors.

Wooden walls CANNOT be broken with hatchets, its impossible despite conflicting reports. This includes if you actually own the house and are inside.

Staircases however can be broken fairly easily with a pickaxe.

Wooden walls take between 2 and 3 C4's depending on decay.
