Keep an eye out for servers with "sleeper" in the name. IIRC that means your body will fall unconscious to the ground and players will be able to kill you. I'm not sure if this can be deactivated, however.
Had a wooden door...
i really enjoy playing rust but i have to work + got a reallife, it feels like they force me to stay online or die.
Thats not what gaming is for me, it takes quiete a while to build a really safe house and loot all that stuff, and i dont unserstand where to point is in doing so when i get killed as soon as a logg out...
if i understand you right. they wont be changing anything about the "sleeping" it will stay as it is
?
Rust is a very time-intensive game and they'll probably fix a lot of the issues in the future.
thanks for the fast responses.
i guess im not the only person who is wondering if that "sleeper mode" will stay in the game and if people get the option to turn it off.
Maybe a dev can answer this.
So a quick respsonse by a dev would really be appreciated.
EDIT ----
That does in fact mean what I'm talking about. Sleeper was implemented as a system to combat loggers who log out during combat to avoid death.
Having said that like other said people can hack your door down, that is why I have a metal door, but 2 C4's can take it down. I have a row of metal doors to annoy any intruders wanting to raid, so far it's proved itself more than one occasion.
Wood shanties (shelters) take 100 hits to break. Wooden doors take 160. In general, it's a giant waste of metal fragments to put a metal door on a shanty. Just build a small base (1x1 foundation is good and not resource-intensive to log out in).
Log out in the cliffs. Tuck your body in some rocks or a hard to reach perch on a cliff somewhere and log out there. Never leave your body somewhere where there are buildings or ways for bandits to find you.
Yes, Sleepers can be disabled on servers that have mods installed. I leave it on my server, to prevent people from combat logging.
However, I also have removed C4 from my server, so as long as you have barred windows, a complete ceiling and a metal door, no one can break in and kill/rob you without hacking.
All that being said, there is also a bug in the game. It seems to happen to me at least half the time I log in. I will log in and find myself naked and in a random spawn point. If I get back to where I logged however, I'll find my backpack on the ground where my sleeping body was.
I've gotten into the habit of emptying my inventory into a chest before I log out, if possible.
My advice: Keep an eye out for servers that advertise No C4 and empty your inventory before logging.
Read my post.
Going offline and sleeping is part of the game. It wouldn’t be much of a survival game if you could just go offline and hide without worry of being found and looted and/or killed while offline. If you don’t like that, then there are a handful of servers that have it disabled, but they have few players. If that’s no good, then this isn’t the game for you.
