Rust console no working.

*First of all, my PC is not a piece of poop*
So, when i first opened rust, just by moving he mouse, it lagged a lot, and my pc has never given me lag problems; thus i decided to look up console comands to turn graphics lower so it didn't lag as much.
I found many different commands which supposely work, but when i type them in, the console will automatically say: 'invalid command' or 'command not found'.

Why is this happening?
Can someone please help me?

You can change the config file prior to running rust.

Which Rust you are running Rust (Experimental) or Legacy.
They have different Commands.

Legacy has the Menü at Startup then the Options in the Ingame Menü (Render Quality, Vsync, Water Reflexions) and the Commands F1. (most used commands "grass.on false")

Experimental has the Menü at Startup then the Options when pressing F2 (Main Options) and some Commands.

I have an issue similar to this, I do have a potato computer aswell. My FPS in the expirimental game isn't horrible I just wish it would be better. I Looked up console commands and decided to try them out. In game, I press f1 and my computer bugs out and switches tabs rapidly and then goes into a blue screen crash window thingy. Can I fix this problem?

It look like you cannot turn of grass in experimental, but the option at the Startup and the menü ingame F2 can change really lot when you need better fps you only need to know which option use many performance.

The Ingame menü F2 is having nearly all most used options you can change with the console.
The only differenz is that you dont need to type the stuff you want change you only need to click or move the slider to change the options.

On the console you can change the other Stuff you cannot change at the Ingame menü F2 like FOV, FPS-Limit and other stuff.

Type in the Console "fps.graph true" and play a bit with the settings then you will see if something happens.

i press F2 and nothing happens... nothing shows up or anything, the ''fps.graph true'' command does show up, and in the menu i always have 10-11 fps and in-game it varies alot, from 4 to 13, but mostly being 10-12.

What is what you are trying to tell me to do by pressing F2? nothing happens if I press it!

F2 is the in-game graphics menu. The settings are the same as what's in the client.cfg I posted earlier. F2 is only available once you're connected to a server, the console works regardless of connection status

There is no grass option in new branch, fp says grass doesn't impact performance on new.

To see all commands enter:

in console (F1)

hmm, i could thank you both really much for your help... the only inconvenient is that when in a server, i press F2 and nothing will happen; therefore no changes in my FPS so far...
