says v-sync is enabled for everything but in rust i get rates way over 60. so i guess that doesnt work
it does matter if the fps is going really high. if 60 fps is fine for you, then capping it at 60 will make it even more smooth because it wont be jumping from 50-200fps and it will take a lot of stress off the GPU from trying to create 200fps it will only make 60.

It isn't superstition. Your GPU will work unecessarily harder when rendering as many frames as it can.
In addition; if your monitor is 60Hz, it's good practice to limit your fps to 60 or a bit higher since anything above 60fps on a 60Hz monitor won't be visible. Most newer games automatically detect your monitor refresh rate and limit itself to 70fps~ as the default setting.
