Spear/Melee Headshot (HELP PLEASE)

Alright, I have been headshotted by a rock and by a spear, both doing like 3 times the normal damage to me, yet everytime I poke someone in the head w/ my spear it does normal damage and makes no headshot noise. I have even tried to test it with my friends and stand still and attack each other and try and see if we can get a headshot.

What am I doing wrong here?

I have tried centering the screen on the other person's head, and also trying to aim a little higher so the tip of the spear actually touches their head. Yet I still hear no headshot noise or notice an increase in damage.

What we found in our tests:

The spear will ultimatly reach the center of the screen however the character model holds the spear at his waist and to the right so to compensate the closer you are to a target the further you must aim up and to the left, Also if you aim TOO high like you just hit the tip of the head and not really the face it will inflict normal damage but WILL inflict the additional "headshot" blead debuff...maybe its a bug?

All tests were on unarmored players and are averages rounded to the nearest whole number.

Wooden spear headshot:

60 dmg
Bleed de-buff~45%

Stone spear headshot:

82 dmg
Bleed de-buff~ 63%
