Although I have tried your solution before - when I do that I'm only able to connect to a server for 20~ seconds, then I'm kicked out.
I've uninstalled twice. Set everything to run as admin, added exceptions to my virus protection/firewalls and haven't found a solid solution yet.
I'm just glad I wasn't the only one that experienced this problem, maybe someone will know a fix.
Error 13 - (I'm assuming it's permissions)
Made a shortcut directly to desktop to the RustClient.exe file in the local Rust files (right-click rust on steam->properties->local files->browse local files).
Ran the shortcut as admin, runs the program, but I now have the 30-second server disconnect issue
I have a second comp, not really a playing comp (Win 8.1, specs too low), but it will load the game without issue. So I know it's not my account
i discoverd a fix. go to : Program Files x86\Steam\steamapps\common\Rust delete the 2 anticheat files and the folder then go to steam and verify game cache
