Server console reports: server.official: "True" (and I've managed to trigger almost every other achievement on it). I'm using "boombox" aka "Boom Box" ID -1113501606 (looks like it's made out of crates, blue tarp over the front, screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/zbt2f3e ). The selected station is the first one which is titled "Rust Radio".
Are you saying Rust Radio on Boom Box is the correct method to trigger the achievement? :(
I've also attempted this with every boombox I've encountered 'in the wild' (ie: underwater lab, etc). Turn it on -> Ensure it's on "Rust Radio" -> Wait > 30 seconds -> muster the strength to measure my disappointment and improve my day.
Its coming up to force wipe so i have been on a build server but the pop was soo high the server was lagging like crazy. I got sick of the lag so decided to load up my own server which is basically like build server when you have admin.
I set server.official to true in server box and wrote config.
after building my new base design in peace for a few hours, I decided to see if i could get it to trigger. It would not, as usual. That must have been my 50th attempt I'm not kidding.
Anyway, i had the boom box sat on a T2 workbench playing the rust soundtrack and i decided to try the portable boom box. I crafted one and set it to rust soundtrack and stood in front of the normal boom box so had 2 playing at once. I thought 30 seconds had passed and was just about to disconnect and quit for night and it triggered.
I'm guessing it was the portable boom box that did it as the normal one was running for over 3 mins I'd guess. I don't think running a private server helped but maybe.
Anyway maybe this will help the next person that has to search to find out what the hell is up with that achievement.
So wait, is it possible to do the achievements on a private server just as long as I set server.official to true?
Here’s how to make it work:
Ensure You Have the Soundtrack: First, make sure you own the official Rust Soundtrack. You can get it either by purchasing it through Steam or by having it available in your library if you’ve already bought it as part of a bundle or pack.
Use a Boom Box:
Place a Boom Box in your world (either craft it or find it in a loot drop).
After placing the Boom Box, interact with it and open its UI.
Select the Soundtrack:
The key step is to ensure that the Rust Soundtrack is available in the Boom Box.
The Boom Box should show the option to play the Rust Soundtrack if you own it. It won’t show up as a standard radio station, but the soundtrack will appear as a playable option if you have it.
Play the Soundtrack for 30 Seconds:
Once the Rust Soundtrack is playing, wait for at least 30 seconds.
The achievement should trigger once the time has passed.
If the Rust Soundtrack doesn't appear as an option in the Boom Box after following these steps, it's possible there may be a bug or an issue with your Steam account and its recognition of the soundtrack. In that case, you might want to try:
Restarting Rust to refresh your inventory and soundtrack access.
Ensuring that your Steam account is properly linked to the soundtrack purchase.
Checking any community forums or Rust's support for known issues with this achievement.
Let me know how it goes or if you need more assistance!
Thank you very much for pointing this out. This does seem to be the issue. I don't know why I didn't connect the dots that 'rust soundtrack' was a reference to the official soundtrack *DLC*. I'll mark this achievement as another one locked behind paid DLC. :|
