Can't SHIFT+TAB (Steam overlay) while in-game.

I can't seem to open steam overlay while in-game. Does anyone know why it happens and how to fix this?

Before you launch a game, go to the steam settings and make sure you did not change the Buttons to open STEAM Overlay. I changed it to my Home button. Confirm that its till Shift + Tab and we can go from there.

Yes, it's still Shift+Tab.

Change it to HOME and test it out.

I changed it to HOME and I still couldn't open Steam Overlay.

It works in Garry's Mod and Counter Strike though.

I can't think of a fix on the top of my head. But you can try this:

- Run check file integrity for Rust.
- Make sure you have more than 6GB of RAM
- Turn off all background applications especially:

ATI Tray Tools
EVGA Precision
Kaspersky AV or Internet Security
RivaTuner
sView 3D Image viewer - S3D service
The Shield Deluxe Anti-virus
Tiny Personal Firewall
Ventrilo
Windows Blinds
X-Fire
Zone Alarm

I found what was causing this. Dxtory wouldn't let me open Steam Overlay.

Just closed it and now it's working fine. Thank you. :)

No problem :) Most of the time is some stupid program preventing the overlay to load properly.
