Rust stuttering since new update

Ever since the update my fps keeps stuttering non stop (every 5 seconds or so). normally on wipe days I have a smooth 180 fps+ but now its dropping 30 fps every stutter and sometimes goes to about 120 fps and locks around there (feels like 80fps)

Kind of unplayable at the moment due to the stutters but seems like no one else is having this issue. I'm on a 4070 with 7800x3d cpu with both fully updated.

this is definitely not due to the number of friends, because my friend only has 10 of them and the problem remains :(

I was going to post about this earlier. I found the fix for me and many others.

I tried a alt account with 0 friends and it worked fine. I jumped back on the main which had 450 friends and reduced it to 12 and the constant stuttering stopped completely. I still get lower fps than normal but its definitely playable now. There is a issue regarding the new steam friend messaging ingame feature which has been sent to the devs and they are aware of it. There is probably more issues that others are having but this is what fixed it for me. Tell your friend to try the game on a completely different account perhaps with 0 friends and do a test.

unfortunately my friend has 12 friends and..it still doesn’t work well and stutters :( we simply don’t have an account with 0 friends, unless I want to play so much that I decide to delete everyone haha

we deleted a few more friends and..it really worked
God, does that mean I have to delete more than 1000 friends to play normally? thanks to the developers

have you tried to contact support to report the problem? I wrote and am waiting for an answer, but I’m not sure they will help :(

Glad its now working for yourselves. I'm in touch with the actual rust team since I was a admin once and have some contacts. They're fully aware of it and they SHOULD be working on a fix

14900K and 4080 super here, it seems smooth but suddenly it stutters for a microsecond, every now and then. The in game fps counter doesn´t even register the frame drop. I was afraid that my 14900k got degraded, but I see i´m not alone in this.

They released an update but I also experience frequent lags
