You do not need to log in every day, the TC has enough space for resources to last you even a whole wipe, depending on your base size
That's funny! So you're out shopping or at work, you get a message that your virtual base is being raided, what are you going to do about it from there? That sort of thing really does make it sound more important than it really is, like it's a second job, only you don't get paid for doing it.
If you have a decent gaming rig and just want to play PvE then try installing your own local server, I did this and I can configure it exactly the way I like, no other players raiding my stuff while I'm away, and the server state is frozen until the next time I load it up. If you wanted to open it up to other players then there are a few extra steps to open up some ports etc and make it visible online, not hard to do though from what I've read online.
