Rust
Edge of the map?
Hey guys, I was just looking at the Rust map for the first time and was wondering what the edge of the map looks like?

I've seen the edge where it drops into the blue....but on the northern part of the Rust map it looks like it has "Wastelands" but then on the map it just stops at a northern point.

In the game, is there a wall of mountains in the north to bar you from leaving? An invisible wall?

I'm just curious.

Yeah, me 2. Never tried going into the wasteland. I've heard that the map repeats itself over and over, with the only difference that no resources can be found. What actually is in there. I can't tell for sure.

I've run due north for upwards of 3 full day-night cycles in-game and seen nothing but mountains and valleys, no resources or anything. No idea where the actual boundary is, if there is one.

- It's an island
- That "blue" is called water.
- The whole island is surrounded by water. (Shocking, I know.)

You description of the map sounds like the one on rustmap.net, which only shows 1/8th of the map.

Rock, yes that is the map I was looking at but others also show land being the ending in the northern end. Is there a map somewhere that shows the whole island? Is the whole island available to explore?

I'm guessing only the cropped area of the island shown in most Rust maps is explorable. It probably just keeps repeating the same terrain. Kinda crazy to think that's just a small chunk of the big island.

I remember my first day in this game I went the wrong way and ended up in this valley where the mountains and scenery would repeat. There were no resources either. I kept going in one direction hoping to find a road but gave up 2 hours later after finding the same mountain.

http://playrustwiki.com/images/f/f2/Rust-Map-Full.png shows you the full mao. As you can see, the populated area is bottom left.

The entire map is explorable. From all the way to the north shore to all the way to the eastern edge of the map at the water. And none of it looks like it's been repeated. In fact, I was on the northern shore (above wasteland north) just last night and on the east coast 3 days ago (we've built a PvP arena out there close to the eastern edge). It's a big map and all of it can be walked on foot.

Wow that's cool, thanks for the correction Draa. I guess now it's like real life....the devs have the world but will add buildings and roads over time.
