How do you play this game so that it is fun?

I bought this game before DayZ and maybe I didn't know how to play or something, but I didn't enjoy this that much. It wasn't like it was completely horrible and unplayable, just a big stale and repetitive. Then I got DayZ and after only a few hours I found myself having immense amounts of fun. Am I missing something about this game?

Those are the kind of people that corrupt any design the devs had planned, they are also the ones who exploit things like barricades on pillars to further corrupt the game.. This game is NOT Call of Duty(or BF3) and it severely saddens me that people feel the need to play it that way.. I have watched countless videos of over-competative players who kill and raid for nothing other then ruining another persons gaming experience, do they need the supplies they gained, no.. does it matter if they drive everyone away from the game, no... will they ever be satisfied, no... I personally think I should have the choice on whether I have to play with these idiots or not, but sadly the only thing I can do is just tell people not to play the game...

And So, I shall continue to tell them to stay away from rust. Unless something major changes to where the game is no longer played like a FPS. I sadly say this game is doomed to fail to the people who need to ruin other peoples days because they have a tiny penis..

After my 6th or 7th base, I found Rust to be the "Open and Close Doors" simulator more than anything.

DayZ is extremely boring....The controls suck.... It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ alpha right now.
Since they couldn't fix the controls for ~3 months, why bother? ♥♥♥♥ that ♥♥♥♥.

I haven’t played rust yet even though I’ve already purchase the game because right now I’m playing something else and will come back to it in a few weeks.

I have played DayZ and I’ll have to say that I think it kinda sucks right now. I will continue to check back in every now and then to see how it develops.

Both Rust and DayZ are still in development and I think it’s way too early to judge either of them.

You make a fair point, I haven't played the standalone so my judgement was based uopn the Dayz mod vs Rust

Rocket already said hes abandoning DayZ later this year.

If the game is already ♥♥♥♥♥ in current state, now i don't think it will ever take off, leaving the mod to be the best version there will ever be.
