What does "Noob Friendly" mean to you?
As a server admin I assume people know we will not make sure they're NEVER killed. I enjoy helping people learn the game and if I have extras I'll give them to people when I can but a PVP/Noob friendly server does not garuntee the noob invincibility. I hate when people get mad at me cause a vet killed them and claim we're not noob friendly.

What do you all think?

noob friendly to me just means non griefy

It means "Come on in, noob! We'll all shout 'FRIENDLY!' and then shoot you in the face!"

I'd hoped that Noob friendly meant, we'll give you a chance to settle in, before we raided you skinny little "budd" back to the stoneage. But that it really means is - we want easy, naive targets to KoS and grief, because we have no real skillz on this server.

So Noob Friendly? Just bait..

noob friendly? lol run.

Wow. Sad to see the real feelings behind the player names. Well our server says noob friendly and the admins don't raid. We help new guys out when we can and warn them not to trust anyone. Again sad to see how cynical people have become in a game of skill.
On that note i've seen a guy with a pick win a gun battle and a bow take out a group of 3 armed guys so It's all a matter of skill.

I've played on one server for a while now, i only stuck to one server cause i learnt all the high tier equipment and stuff but even when fresh spawns come up to me i give them things, i usually get hit by them.. which is probably why most people kill them because you can't trust anybody

Totally fair. I always tell new players to trust NO ONE.

Noob friendly is not a word to use in the title. It's like a bad omen for years. Server to avoid in other words.
Want some more precise? Change it to New player friendly etc.
Zaxx Mar 16, 2014 @ 7:12pm
I like that a lot. Good point. I did not know people avoided those servers. We're new server admins. Thanks!

Noob friendly usually means the seal clubbing server. New players come expecting help and understanding. Pro/Good players club them for fun.

That's what I'm finding out.

Come again? You have a "skill player" fighting against noobs, and he wins, so he must be "superman" - so it is ok to KoS noobs on a noob friendly server?!? Or, what is it I'm missing?!

Noobs are easiely spottet, and they are no real threat, so why KoS them? If you claim to be noob friendly, the you have to be noob friendly - imo. Which means, that you give noobs time to settle in - get a grip on the mechanics of the game, and maybe even adwise them not to build on the road just outside little radtown. Noob friendly is not a "care package" of 5 food. sleepingbag and a rope to hang themselfes with.

A friendlier server, some go as far to say no fresh spawn killing which I don't agree with.
Zaxx Mar 16, 2014 @ 7:17pm
Hmm. I understand what you're saying and I completely agree. We don't do care packages, i'm not sure where you got that, but I do help them with advice and items when I can. It's a difficult balance.

I'm learning that almost EVERYTHING related to Rust can get people very defensive and angry very quickly.

Trying to find a balance between helping a new player and letting vets enjoy the game however they usually enjoy it is difficult.
