Is Rust genuinely worth $20? I am pretty broke but love what it offers, should I buy?

Ok so I am picky with what games I buy because I am pretty broke. I love the what ive seen so far, but the hacking makes me hesitant. Is the hacking that bad? and if I am aloted 1 game to buy due to budget would Rust be a good pick? Why? Mahalo!

If 20 dollars is a lot to you, no it is not. If 20 dollars isn't much to you, it is very worth it.

I haven't played much because I've been trying to find the motivation for the learning curve.

But from a first glance if you love survival games you will love this. It is still an early Alpha so not everything is working and it is still buggy.

But yeah this is a pricey alpha. Looks at some gameplay and make up your mind.

Thanks for the help guys. It is a pricey alpha, i do love helping out the devs but thats kinda up there. I have just been burned by early access one to many times and needed some confirmation first. I am still on the fence but if i find it cheaper i will pick it up. Could anyone tell me if the hacking situation is bad enough to ruin gameplay or make me worried every time i log off all my earnings and workings will be gone. TY

You will find it cheaper (google for steam keys ;)).

On official servers: Yes, hackers will ruine your gameplay.
On comminity servers: No, at least they haven't for me.

I have only 40 hours in and am not yet tired of it... I see where it can get old though in say another 40-60 hours.... 100 hours for $20 is pretty damn good though.

lol youd have to be incredibly stupid to get yourself hacked by purchasing a key off a website, its not hard to find legit websites selling cheaper rust keys with a simple google search, the internet is your friend, if you know how to use it that is and aint a scrubnub

If this game is really 10% done as the Dev says it is... then yes- it is worth $20 bucks.

There is tons of room to grow with this game. You are going to have to wait for a bit, but it is thus far decent- except for the bullies who have nothing better to do at the moment then sit around killing naked shivering starving noobs while they have their kevlar-AR Bolts...etc

Its alpha. I expect greater things for it.

I only paid 12 for it so as long as I put in 1-2 hours in it then its worth it to me.

not to say i'll stop after 1-2 hours. I think its a great game

You can get the game for $10-15 if you know how to trade.

I'd say it's worth the $20. If they fix defense it will be worth even more.

I just watched Ohmwrecker's video because I've been considering buying Rust...I'm probably going to stay away unless Rust is at least percieved as taking a proactive action. I saw Facepunch's post on their website talking about doing something but banning someone for posting a video about a cheater on their forums? No edit, no warning but a week ban straight up? That seems like heavy-handed damage control to cover the problem up rather than actually do something and that isn't something I can support.

This makes me a little sad because I was probably going to buy it tonight.
