The advantage of beds is that you will be able to spawn at it without any "cooldown timer" triggering for a 100m radius as with sleeping bags.
I haven't tested that yet either, but that probably is the truth as well (perhaps not the C4 part however).
Exactly this. The primary difference is that beds, while having no respawn timer, require a house with a roof. Someone can't just lay down a dozen sleeping bags outside your house and respawn over and over to destroy something. They're welcome to create 15 beds, but it won't be outside your door. It'll be in a house with a roof somewhere.
Essentially, if someone really wanted to zerg beds they'd have to go through quite a lot more effort in order to do so.
