How does it run on a MacBook Air?
Can anyone with a Mac(book Air) tell me how it runs? Don't have my gaming desktop with me but I'd quite like to play Rust.

Somehow, my macbook pro doesnt run it. Even on fastest. Even tho it should! I can play serveral of games like Rust.

How ever, the game starts, i join a server and get stucked on "waiting for Charakter"
But i also have a folder as Rust icon. Somehow strange.

What specs do u have?

Intel Core i5 1.6 ghz (dual core), 4 GB RAM (not that RAM counts for anything in terms of gaming performance), Intel HD Graphics 3000.

Pretty poor specs, I have to say – definitely not my gaming PC that I don't have with me at the moment.

It runs Dota 2 on medium-low alright and Rust is definitely not Crysis (based off of Unity, as opposed to Source this time) so I was wondering whether anyone else had any experience with playing it on the Air (or any Mac, really).

You have to turn the graphics quality to the lowest settings, and use grass.on false

Same problem here, waiting for charakter...
I hope they will fix it, i trust on you guys, you made it far, end this game! :)
Well I have Rust on MacBook Air. It was literally like playing a flip-book on maximum settings; that was before I did some mods. I am able to play Rust without much problem when the internet isn't spotty and when I set Rust to medium settings.

The great thing about MacBook is that it can get used to the performance of any game. For instance, my brother and I have computers (both the same) with Minecraft on them. After 3 minutes of play, my computer turns on its fans to the high setting and starts heavy breathing. My brother has been playing Minecraft on that computer since 2013 of March and he is able to run Minecraft of high settings with no fans needed.

Fans are important to understanding how your computer operates to games. The MacBook gets loud when the game is new but you'll notice the fan intensity decrease as you keep playing.

My best advice for you: play Rust at the low settings first. Then, slowly increase the settings over the game session. I would go by this:

Start: Set graphics to 0
30 minutes: Set graphics to 1
1 hour: Set graphics to 2
and so on every 20-30 minutes.

Macbook air early 2015
4 GB - 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM
1,6 GHz Intel Core i5
Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB

Does NOT run smoothly at all with everything set to low.
I get around 4-7 FPS. Totaly unplayable.

Of course. What did you expect from a laptop that was created to surf the internet and play small game that doesnt require a lot of power.

Intel HD Graphics ... 4gb of ram and a 1.6ghz cpu. Horrible specs.

Next time when people tell you not to buy a mac"book" air because it sux and you can't play ♥♥♥♥ on that ... trust them.

I've got both a MacBook Air and a custom-built Windows-based gaming PC.

It's possible to have both and enjoy the distinct advantages of both computers. It's not mutually exclusive.

I have one. But the whole thing was about a macbook air running rust right?
So that was my answer. I run Rust maxed out on my gaming rig.

Honestly crapbooks are not meant for playing games.
They are good for other uses but games is not their strong point.
Dont buy into the Hype of Apple - because it will cost u in the end.
