Only manage to build foundation

Hello

I am quite new to the game and I am trying to build my first house.

I have read about it online and manage to craft my building plan and gather about 1000 wood. I have also built a hammer

By selecting the building plan I manage to build some foundations, but after that I cant built anything else.

When I select the building plan and then right mouse click all options appear red and I can only place foundations. When trying to upgrade the foundations with the hammer it does not let me upgrade it either.

Any suggestions on what I am missing?

Does the area you are trying to build in have building blocked or did you run out of building materials? Those are the only reasons I can think of as to why you wouldn't be able to build anything.

He probably placed hes cupboard and did not activate himself on it.

I do have enough materials (for the things I want to build I think I only need wood). I have tried on many different places so I dont think the building place is blocked. I did not build a cupboard at all, maybe thats what I am missing

Well even without a cupboard you should be able to build just fine, maybe you're on a server that uses a different plot based building system?

Hey thanks for you all help.

It turns out its been just another dump user experience from my side. I was expecing the RMB menu to show green icons while it turns out that (at least for me) it always show red icons but it still allows me to build!
