I can't place my mining quarry down
So I found a mining quarry in an airdrop and I used the weird grenade things to find a good spot (can't remember the name for some reason) but no matter where I try the mining quarry is red and I can't place it down. Does it need to be on a foundation on or something?

It should work if you use the servey charge, the servey charge leaves alittle indentation in the ground, you must place the quarry ontop of it, it should work, if not I have no idea.

sometimes you are too close to the quarry, try stepping back but maintaining the quarries position on the indentation made by the servey charge

Do hills have anything to do with it? I built my house near a steep hill and I want to put my mining quarry near it.

I'm having the same issue. Used a survey charge and I still can't place down my quarry. I have no idea if it is a bug or if there is something I'm missing

Same here, and not only that, before placing it I spend a sh**load of stone metal and good quality metal to build a perimeter and now it is all to waste

You can't place it close to your base.

how far does it have to be, I am pretty far and having the same problem.

Yeah I was probably just a little too close to my base. Will just have to find a better spot.

First place the survey charge, then build the quarry on it. Be sure to be out of the area of the quarry itself

I also found out that there is a bounding box requirement that must be met in regards to the player. I was having the same problem, but once I walked backwards away from it a bit, it turned blue and I was able to place it.
General guides to placing a quarry:
minimum 15 foundations away from any building (to include any foundations used for marking spots)
mostly flat terrain
approx 1-2 foundations distance from survey charge location and player
must use a survey charge as location point.

You gotta throw those "weird grenades" down, then you put the quarry on the hole that "weird grenade" made. Make sure good stuff comes out before placing it. Don't put it in a hole that didn't have any resource come out of it

Yes. Flat surface, stand relatively close to it. Too far or too close and it stays red.

Not fifteen foundations, that''s way too high. I've had them about eight away so I can access them fast through my external gates.
