Rust Servers run by gameservers.com - Review
Normally I wouldn't post something so random out of the blue, but it comes to my attention that not a lot of information is known about gameservers.com. Are they good? Are they bad? Do they support oxide, magma or essentials? Are the prices worth it? There are varying speculations about gameservers.com and how quality they really are. Some say good, some say bad. I would say I see a large number of both. Be prepared for a long and tedious review.

While I was unsure at first! I decided to bite the bullet and spend a mere 12$ on a 50 slot server in New York (live on East Coast). I jumped to this conclusion so I could give my fellow community a honest and updated opinion on this game server provider. So I finished the payment and I was sent an email with my control login information as soon as the payment finished processing. My initial impression was: pleasantly surprised as I found the server set up in around 30 minutes. The process is very easy and simple to follow. When the server finished installation, I was clearly notified with a descriptive email and a bar showing my servers status. Next to the server status are four buttons: Info, Configuration, Admins, Mods. Very easy navigation right off the bat! Something nice to see. The info section gives you basic server information including players online, server IP, and details for FTP. Now, I never saw any topics regarding FTP access for gameservers.com, but I can assure you that you have FULL FTP file access. Including installing your own plugins and editing any config files. The info page also has a chart for measuring the frequency in which players join your server. Nice little touch. Makes it easier than going through old logs and counting each player.

The next page is the juiciest. Now, one of the major controversies about gameservers.com is the purity of their server configurations. I too was a little apprehensive going into is tab, but what I found was very pleasing. While it is very simple, the server configurations offered by gameservers.com offer two categories: novice and advanced. The novice category was easy to navigate and simply drop down boxes offering various server options. Some of which include sleepers, insta craft, day/night times, PvP toggle, server name, rCpn options, fall damage and countless others. The advanced options offer the same configurations but in a coded format, and more leeway to make your server pleasurable to your preferences.

The admin page doesn't offer much, but not much is needed. It gives you the ability to create an admin profile for rCon, simple as that.

The last page, mods, is the best. gameservers.com offers 4 mods to install on your rust server: Magma/Rust++, Oxide, and RustEssentials. (I prefer RustEssntials because I'm too lazy to code myself). The outright biggest question on every forum thread or review was, "Does gameservers.com support Oxide for rust!?!?!?". Well, as of June 21, 2014, I can confirm that gameservers.com DOES in fact support oxide.

While I haven't tested or used the customer service/ticket response times, I can infer from many other posts that they respond within an hour. They also offer DDoS protection for every server ordered.

I installed RustEssentials on my server (US FriendlyRust) and tested its latency and overall performance. I live in Virginia and my server was located up in NY. I received a constant 40-55 ping which isn't bad at all. There were tiny pockets of rubber banding once every hour or so, but that is to be expected on every server in every game. (Unless you have a 1,000$ dedicated server....anyways..) Overall, it wasn't choppy at all and it ran very smooth, even for me with my TERRIBLE PC. I was amazed by the quality for a 12$ server. Keep in mind I only have had 5 players on at a time so results may vary as the player cap rises. For now I've only had isolated pockets of lag which is most likely the game itself (with the new broken update and all :/).

Overall, the site offered quick installation and smooth performance with easy site navigation

Pros:
+ Easy to navigate sight and control panel
+ Tons of server locations worldwide
+ RustEssential, Oxide and Magma/Rust++ friendly
+ Smooth performance and latency, minimal rubber band
+ Easy to buy and clear conformation on purchase by REAL people.
+ Somewhat quick installation
+ Get what you pay for with low price
+ Low price :)

Cons:
- No on-site console, got to download Rusty. (Which I don't really like).
- Nothing else...seems like a legitimate server provider.

OVERALL 9/10 - RECOMMENDED!
* 1 point off for no on-site console.

Hope you use this review to your advantage. I would recommend this provider over HFBSERVERS, FPSPLAYERS, PLAYRUST.EU, and RUSTSERVERS.
- Multiplay seems more professional and trusted, but they have branding and cost more. I consider them equals.

Is rusty what you use to for FTP?

We tried a Counterstrike Server with them and it was a pain from the start. Latency was an issue most of the time the first day or so when it worked. After a day or so no one could even join the server and a picture stared them in the face until they gave up. Don't waste you money on these people. I emailed them to cancel it and they harassed me constantly saying they couldn't.

Again don't waste you time or money! Two thumbs down!
Thanks for the review, it influenced my decision. I just rented a server from them. Everything has been pretty easy and straight forward. I'm paying less than $8 a month for my own rust server. I really can't complain at that price.

Gameservers.com = unreliable, poor latency, outages, etc.
+1

Gameservers.com = unreliable, poor latency, outages, etc.

This is still an issue with this company. DDoS'd multiple times, server crashes multiple times, etc in the course of a few days.

As an IT Guy myself, and being a customer with them for 2 months now. I Am looking at getting an AZURE Linux server. These guys are not providing the resources the server requires to run. Multiple times I have had the server connections disconnect, (my users are located across the USA, from hawaii to new york and all get disconnected) I enter a request and their response is I should do a traceroute. AMATEURS, Traceroute only diagnose my connection, has nothing to do with all of my users, nor your server. dont try to intellectually joust with me. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.
Id suggest AGAINST Gameservers.com!
I have rented from gameservers many times - They are the WORST host I have EVER had the misfortune to use EVER!!!

Hardware that is junk or VERY overstretched to make more money.
Support that is worse - well my last ticket with them took over a week to answer.

The last time I rented a rust server from them it was being DDOS'sd before it was even set up, following the week long wait for the ticket reply I was told that not being able to join my own server but being able to join others was somehow an issue with my internet.

wow
Its not good thing
ONLY LINUX RUST SERVER is accessed by pressing F1 on starter screen, then typing:

play.deadlock.com:1333

It's a great server with a friendly almost always online admin. Defo recommended but we need more Linux players to keep it up :) Use Proton to get it started
here is a 2021 update. in 2019 I had server for 50 players and at first it was ok at a 3000 size, however i wanted to use the size 4000 to get the new monument it crashed a few times and support said i needed 100 slot server to get the ram needed to have a bigger map. i was little mad because i was never told this when i signed up. so i added the slots and never had an issue. after the year i gave it a break because it just got toxic. Now 2021 i had a few guys ask me to run a vanilla server again so i signed up again at 50 slots to start. I had issues getting it to even start so i spent a few days working on this. i put in a ticket and have not heard back yet. One issue i have with them, my biggest pet peeve is their site is very minnial. They dont have any way of knowing if your server is running and what the current status at any moment NOTHING. you can restart, stop, and wipe. Now if you wany to know these things you need to find a website or program to log in to the Rcon and things are fine. they say rustadmin but i liked Battlemetrics (paid) because it logs everything all the time. Now i will add rustadmin is now web based and probably does the same thing now but im not sure. with the program it only works if you are logged in and your PC is on too, this includes saved protocols to run. NOW HERE IS THE ISSUE IN 2021. I could never get the new server to work and like i said you have no way of knowing the status but the crash log say crashed due to RAM limit of like 7500mb when the rust server mins is 3gb. So you have to add slots to even launch vanilla. i say find another provider and pay a little more per slot.
