WHY ARE THE SENTRY GUNS MURDERING ME?!!!

As the question says, WHY?! I just ran to Fishing Village with an inventory stuffed with great loot. I had even taken my crossbow out of my hotkey bar. I had a bone knife in the bar.

The Fishing Village guns started shooting me. So I ran and took the bone knife out of the hotkey bar. Went back and the guns killed me anyway! I had no weapon in my hotkey bar, so why the heck do they shoot me?! There seems to be some kind of timer that starts at five minutes, but I die before I can read it. Is there some kind of mark put on me for five minutes?

Please explain this to me, because I'm tired of losing great inventories to these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sentry guns.

you can always go back and loot your bodies if they are in the safe zone when your timer is up. if you died outside of safe zone, then anyone can grab your stuff. the timers only start when you hurt a player or animal with a weapon

Despite what most people think, safezones & heli are NOT only triggered by weapons....

if you have ANY sort of AGRO just before entering a safezone.. putting away weapons will not save you...

top right of your screen, theres a crosshair indicating whether or not you can enter the safe zone

Hey, i created a server for noobs and im trying to find people that have less than 100 hours to join and help make it easier for new players, would you maybe be interested?

So I finally figured out that the little red reticle in the top right corner of your screen appears whenever safe zones consider you hostile. If you go within sentry turret range when it's there, you'll be shot. And you can be deemed hostile just from breaking barrels. So you have to watch the indicator and not go into a safe zone until it disappears.
