Rust crashes and windows says low on memory.(Windows 10)
Hi, when my friend tries to play rust, his game crashes and says ''Your computer is low on memory. Save your files and close the programs.''
Anybody know why this happens?
He have been able to play any other game just fine.
Also, he does not have a a bad pc, he have a good pc that can run games on most games on Ultra/high.

Sounds like he doesn't have enough ram. Rust requires atleast 8gbs of ram now.

He have 16gbs.
more than enough.
like I said, its not with his pc.

Has he messed with the page file for the system at all? he shouldn't be running out of memory... Is he running a 64bit OS? if hes using 32bit Windows it won't register more than 3.5-4gbs of ram. download CPU Z and check the memory tab to determine this. also, you can open up task manager (Cntrl + Alt + Del) and go to the memory tab. verify howmuch system memory the computer is using at idle. if its abnormally high, check to see what application / process is consuming the memory.

it probably wouldn't hurt to download CCleaner. run the analyzer, then clean. also run the Registry fixer...

He reinstalled the game 3 times, never messed with anything, he tried only having the game and steam on, and he alredy checked if he is using alot of memeory with task mananger.
His graphics card is contains 2g memeroy, (a gtx 960 if that matters)
he can run gtav on ultr/high.
so I doubt it is actual memory, and just rust ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with him or windows 10 not really made for rust

Okay well i know for a fact windows 10 isn't the issue, as thats the OS i use and rust plays ok for me. Verify he is using windows 10 64bit (It has to be 64bit). then download CPU Z and verify it's actually registering all 16gbs of ram.

This issue has nothing to do with memory size at all, if you have 6gigs minimum it should be ok
Game has issues on couple of computers, i have this issue too, but no fix so far

his graphics card memory is pretty low, he should check if the computer uses some of the ram memory as graphics card memory

Hello. Just had same problem with Rust. 2 times in last 10 minutes.

Have 8 gb of ddr4 (gpu: rx 460, cpu: i5 6402).
Win 10, 64bit.

I'm pretty sure Win 10 is causing the problem. I haven't experienced any with XP and 7 in last 10 years. But these 2 months using Win10 is just... one after another. Spent more hours searching google for bugs solution than playing games or doing any other constructive work.

Stick with 7 ppl ;)

ridiculous. windows 7 is an outdated OS and any serious gamer should not use windows 7. the problem is NOT windows 10 otherwise we would have A LOT more reports of such issues. the game is in Early Access. certain computer hardware configurations will have issues such as memory leaks. which are attributed to the Games Coding.

the Rust Early Access Disclaimer specifically states that there will be times when the game may not work at all.

OP - if your system is suffering from memory leak you need to get in contact with Facepunchs support team and provide them as much information as possible of your systems specs so they can do a debug and figure out the issue.
