First, make sure you are current on both windows updates and graphics/security software and restart the computer. In some rare cases you may need to remove all traces of current graphic software and install fresh from their website. Here's a helpful guide on how to do that: https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq/how-to-perform-a-clean-install-of-your-video-card-drivers.2402269/
It's also worth checking if you meet the minimum requirements to play. You can see the full list of minimum and recommended system requirements on the steam store page

Then check your anti-virus/firewall to be sure they're not blocking EasyAnti-Cheat (EAC/EOS).
Disable any 3rd party overlays you may be using such as Discord, for testing purposes.
Also be sure your Windows Virtual Memory (pagefile) is not set to a very low threshold. You can typically increase it to match how much system RAM you actually have. Here's a guide on how to do that https://www.tomshardware.com/news/how-to-manage-virtual-memory-pagefile-windows-10,36929.html
It's highly recommended that Rust is installed on a SSD (Solid state drive) rather than a HDD (Hard disk drive). This reduces load times down to only a few minutes. If you already have one but Rust is not installed on there, here is a guide on moving games to another drive

We've had some reports of screen resolution being a factor in some cases. If possible, try running the game in "windowed" and a 1080 or less resolution for a while and see if it helps.
Note: be sure any and all "experimental" settings are off in your game options.
If it continues:
Locate your Rust installation directory through Steam and attach the file output_log.txt in reply to this ticket

Also attach a DirectX Diagnostic report (DxDiag file) , you can find out how to do this here https://support.facepunchstudios.com/hc/en-us/articles/214176465-How-to-get-a-list-of-my-PC-specs
If you're getting crashes please include your latest crash dump as well. https://support.facepunchstudios.com/hc/en-us/articles/5060859342737-How-to-find-Rust-s-crash-dmp-files
