Cannot Earn Apex Predator

I Just spent the majority of my day earning the Apex Predator achievement only to not receive it. I have confirmed that the server I am playing on is able to earn achievements. In case that the shark kills did not count if you were far away, I killed more while i was in close range. In total I killed 15 sharks with a speargun and still have not earned this achievement. If anyone has any insights as to why I cannot earn apex predator please let me know.

Very late reply, but yeah I am playing a server that gives me achivements but the shark one wouldn't work. I was close in one of the wrecks and it didn't increase towards the achievement. Then the next shark bugged, I hit it with like 12 spears and I ended up dying because I gave up in frustration..
