How are you supposed to play this game when joining a server 24 hours after wipe?

I feel like I'm just going to get a lot of get gud messages but I can't understand how you get off the beach when everyone has guns.

Starting on a new server, I find a cleaver/mace etc. on a road, farm barrels, get to a good amount of loot and start heading to outpost to scrap. I then get rolled on by a guy with a P2, next life a guy with a DB, next life a guy with a SAR.

What is meant to be the counterplay? I don't have enough cloth for a bow to fight, I can't make it to Outpost for a tier 1 to make a crossy etc.

Please give me some tips because I'm completely lost.

Got to play super late at night, or team up, which i never do, but roam and try to catch a raided place, If that far behind roaming and looking for a score is best way but staying away from monuments and staying on outside edges of map is about bet u can do it u cant score a kill or steal a kill

Don't farm directly !
(you can die mutiple time in each of these steps,that's rust in 2024...)

1_ as soon as you wake up look at your map to find the place you want to build your house ( if possible far from eveything)

2_ Farm only 1 tree to make a spear

3_Start running to the place you spotted and collect 30 Hemp on your way to craft a sleeping bag

4_When you have a sleeping bag keep it in your hand while you are running so you can place it quickly if you get attacked.

5_when killed, If you respawn on your sleeping bag it's better to craft a second one to continue
you can also craft a hammer to pick up your 1st bag but if you get killed you are back again to step 1 ;/

6 _ Once you arrive on the spot you want
hide a bag in a bush
maybe a small crate also ..hide in a bush
just farm some tree to make :
2 lock, 1 door (1st lock) , 1 cupboard(2nd lock), 1 building plan, 1 hammer and just enough to make a 1 block house.. and upgrade to wood .

7 _ Now you can start farming..
Next step will be to :
Add a air lock
Upgrade to stone with a sheet metal door
Craft a bow etc..

Start on a PVE server for a little while to get the hang of the game then move on to PVP. We have had a PVE server for 4-5 years that has a steady community, but I always used it to test out builds and guns while spending more time on PVP.

Play servers that wipe BP's. That way progression is slowed down, on those servers that never wipe BP's you can hear half the server has AK's in an hour or two after wipe.

First sar is 15 minutes in, it's a cheap gun to make.

Ultimately, you will die a lot, that's Rust. Recognize what's a high contention area and what isn't. Gas station, mining outpost or supermarket are super high traffic early in the wipe, you may be more fortunate recycling at something like a Ferry terminal.
