While this DOES work with the provided official Facepunch server specifically made for attempting to launch a game without EAC, it does not work with the server I usually play on.
It kicks me around 10 seconds after trying to join my usual server exactly because of EAC being off.
Does this mean that EAC is or isn't the problem?

Several of us have already done it. https://support.facepunchstudios.com/hc/en-us
The discussion you linked seems to be a different case than mine. They say that their PC freezes and they HAVE TO restart it, while mine does so on its own.
One comment says that they get an error, which I don't get either as it goes instantly to restarting at the moment the loading disappears.
I would go a year without content updates if Facepunch fixed their game and finally resolve crashes from alt+tabbing and other technical issues.
Hi all, I think I have found the problem.
Try to follow the facepunch advice here - https://support.facepunchstudios.com/hc/en-us/articles/15041503601437-Launching-Rust-with-EAC-disabled-RustClient-exe
Launch Rust with EAC disabled and connect to their test server.
My rust performed fine, therefore I believe the problem is with EAC.
Would be interested to see if you can replicate the same.
Yup, that's the first thing that was suggested to me when I submitted a ticket and got a response. I replied back and haven't received a new potential fix yet
EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) was not made by Facepunch, it's used by many different games from many different game publishers. But yeah, it does sucks major balls. Cheaters manage to find ways to get undetected for a while and the games that feature it always have some weird bugs.
The first guy who replied suggested that, sent a link and I tried it, but only that specific server works. If I try launching any other server, I get an EAC error about 10 seconds after clicking to join.
Yeah you would do if EAC is disabled. You can only join the facepunch unsecured server when you disable EAC. But it points to me that the problem is with EAC if your PC isn't restarting after launching Rust with EAC disabled and joining the unsecured server.
