Indeed, sometimes there are bigger groups that stay longer, or even for entire wipes, and your only options are to ally with them, join them, or make enough bases so that you always have an extra base with enough items to get you back on your feet.
Even those groups break up after a couple of wipes. Sometimes, you can even offline raid them if you survive long enough to make teas and farm the snow for sulfur.
Pretty much, you need to avoid taking their stuff in the first couple of days while they are still a full group, and if you do, don't lead them to your main base...
