what headphones

which headphones and mic you using, iv never used them before really so bought a pair of £40 amazon things with good reviews, although they look good, there crap, the mic doesnt even really work and the sound it just bass, just wondering what you all using so i can have a look at some, cheers

HyperX Cloud Alpha and works just fine and sounds good enough for me.

I'm using hyper x cloud 3's now brought them a few weeks ago, and personally I will never go hyper x again. Great for hearing foot steps but audio quality is trash imo, and the software is a nightmare. Personally i'd just buy something like the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headset and you wont need to upgrade anytime soon. After looking more into headsets after not liking the hyper x cloud 3's I just brought, i'm going to switch to Audeze Maxwell's Gaming headset and try that next.

Corsair, HS65 Surround sound with noise canceling.

To play Rust you need to be able to hear footsteps. You also need to get noise canceling so you don't hear noises around you IRL that would keep you from hearing footsteps in game. Make sure to get surround sound, it makes a huge difference in the games sound like hearing which way the footsteps came from or to be able to look toward that boom you just heard, from far away. Corsair headsets are very good with that and your not spending you entire paycheck just to brag.
