Still no character customization?

This game STILL has no character customization?

I mean, I've been reading a lot around the net and understand that an impactful number of potential customers refrain from purchasing the game due to the lack of this feature.

I've also read about how this is more like a game design choice and whatever, but don't you think that a feature such as this would in no way hurt the current playerbase and just potentially widen up the players/customers pool for RUST?

Just saying, I mean, Facepunch Studios already got my money so anything they could take from me they had it.. but if only they'd decide to implement such a requested feature, they might acquire me and soooo many more people as active new players and possibly customers for cosmetic shop options.

It's such a shame, really.

and the only time you see your character is at the inventory screen... and once you have gear, you cant see details even then... so explain again why its important?

I (re)installed today to try out the game again and immediately went to look for how to change my character look, only to (re)find out I couldn't. So I just uninstalled the game.

Should it really matter? no. Does it have any real effect on the game? no. But do I still care about it and it made me want to uninstall the game? Yes. Yes it did.

Many people play games for the escapism. Choosing my identity is part of that escapism. If everyone played the exact same character (like in The Witcher) I wouldn't care, but we don't so there is no reason I shouldn't be able to choose what I look like from the various possible appearances.

Implementing at least some way to choose appearances should be trivial to do. And as someone who has worked as a programmer in the game industry... yes, I do get to say it should be trivial because I know it to be the case (for those of you who would argue I don't know how difficult it would be to implement).

Anyways, my two cents, peace out.

See, it's not about disagreeing. It doesn't stop from disagreeing, I'd be happy if it was just that.

People just have to FIGHT and go on a full stand for something that does not impact them at all.

Like people playing World of Warcraft, I've heard some people's response about adding housing to the game like: "if they add housing I'm going to stop playing".

Why you have to push yourself so much?

Why you care and go against it as what is being proposed is actually, idk, TAKING DOWN some game features or items or weapons?

You should actually welcome such a change and get even more players involved in the community.

Instead no, you just reflect your being a piece of ♥♥♥♥ even outside the game.

So I just wish RUST community to enjoy and live as longer as they can.

They should randomize characters per server and per wipe. So each server will generate random character for each steam-id but keep it constant during whole wipe.

This is a great idea. I lean towards keeping characters random in appearance but it does get boring always playing as the same exact person especially when you look nothing like them.

I bought Rust last night. I didn't know before hand that you couldn't even choose the gender of your character. The game kept forcing me to play as a female. I like to be able to relate to the character I'm playing in a game, as I view it as a proxy for myself. It's MY avatar.
I ended up refunding the game after only 25 minutes. If I don't like the character I'm playing as I can't enjoy the game. If I'm constantly annoyed every time I catch a glimpse of my own character I can't enjoy the game.
