foundation's side by side without touching?
How do you build foundation's side by side without touching. so you get 2 walls. seen bases done like this. trying to do it now. but cant seem to get them that close. or they just lock on.

I dont think you can do that unless you use a TC and go just beyond the limitations of it, or you could do it with floors on the second floor to connect 2 bases

Square > 3 hex > triangle
remove hexagons
square - - square < triangle
Place squares back from the triangle
and you will be left with 2 squares with about 1 foot gap between them

im not 100% sure on it, but i think its something along the lines of first you connect 2 square foundation points with triangle foundations (a few), once connected, you delete the triangle foundations and replace with square ones, should end up a tiny bit further away on end point allowing for a double wall

nvm guy above me has the details xD wasnt too far off tho

1. - Build this https://imgur.com/TCwI0Hq

2. - Delete the 12 square foundations that go around the middle 4, like this - https://imgur.com/mvyN7bQ

3. - Build triangle foundations in the spots you just deleted like this - https://imgur.com/yxD4m8k

(optional) 4. - If you want an extra layer of split walls, you can also make the middle part a circle of triangle foundations by doing this - https://imgur.com/MFRvrtK (Once you have this, delete the square foundation and fill the rest of the circle in with the triangle foundations.)

Though I usually just leave the 4 squares and I figure it's good enough.

LASTLY, YOU 100% NEED TO DO THIS OR THE BASE WONT WORK -

Red lines = doors, yellow/red lines = double doors. If you don't use double doors, you wont be able to fit through those areas.

You're welcome. This is just one example of how to to this, there are many others. I find this design gives you a ton of space and room to expand, and it's veeeeery secure. (12-14 c4 to get to the middle of floor 1). Come up with your own way of doing this around your own design, you can come up with real cool ♥♥♥♥.

You're making it more complicated that you need to man.

Just build 3 squares in a line, delete the middle one. Place a triangle foundation on either remaining square foundation facing in and you have a gap, and it makes it honeycombed since its triangle. Don't have to the the half moon thing anymore.

And how would you get the gap if thats not the base design the op was planning,
like a gap between 2 squares in a line and not offset walls like the square and triangle you suggested end up.
( This may seem a snapy comment I don't intend it to be, I'm genuinly curious how )

No worries. In the post above yours I detailed how to do it. If you don't want to use triangles at all and stay strictly squares, you can do it this way -

1. - Build this - http://i.imgur.com/JCWBD59.png

2. - Delete all but these - http://i.imgur.com/tbTUG5w.png

3. - Extend square foundations from the triangle back to the middle to make the gap - http://i.imgur.com/s3IbsaS.png

Though keep in mind doing it this way means you need a ton more space outward since you need to build out so much. The choice is yours.

edit: also, download this - https://www.reddit.com/r/fortify/

You can use it to design bases and practice doing things like double walls without having to be in game using resources.

Thats the way i said above ;P Well at least Im not missing out on a trick that makes it easier to do that config, Thank you.
Wouldn't it just be easier to build a whole bunch of tiny bases? Still takes 12-14 C4 to get all your loot, and you can have multiple levels on all of those too, plus if you are getting raided, you can come from one of your other nearby small bases, and shoot them in the back instead of having to fight out of your base. so you can spawn on one of your other bases, snipe them in the back instead of predictably comming out of your one big honey comb base.
I'm just thinking out loud.
Plus if you have a bunch of small bases you could have decoys, and traps.

Maybe the big honeycombed base is the decoy/trap ;)

Oh whoops! I thought you were some other guy asking, my bad. :p
But yeah, i usually don't go the half-moon route since I can never find a spot I like with enough space to build it. You seem to know your ♥♥♥♥ though. :)
