Cannot connect to rust servers on linux

Hello, I am running Kubuntu 22.04 on my gaming rig, and every game works except for Rust. Game starts, goes into the main screen, but when you try to connect to a server, it says "EAC error" which im assuming has to do with easy anti cheat

You have to connect to servers that have EAC off - there is only one such server that has regular players, it's not on the in-game server list but you can connect manually - https://connect.deadlock.com

The game actually works perfectly on Linux/Proton, it's just that you can't connect to EAC-enabled servers (which is nearly all of them).

Game used to run native on Linux without proton. Then helk got irritated people would report bugs for the Linux build. Then discontinued support for Linux. Then out of spite 6+ months later disabled EAC, so no one could play it anymore. So I doubt it's ever coming back.

Thats pretty immature of them. So how would I find a non EAC enables server?

You already found the only one worth finding. If you want to check others you can go to steam > view > game servers > filter for rust/not secure, but they are all empty/test servers.

ok, so i can connect to deadlock in game, but i cant save it in steam as a favorite server. am I doing something wrong? I went to:

View > Game Servers > Favorites > + > play.deadlock.com:1333

Yea that function can sometimes be a bit flakey, if you keep trying it should stick eventually, or you could try the queryport instead play.deadlock.com:1334

just switch to the PVE mode on the server site. problem solved, dont be so negative. All i like playing the game for anyway is to survive and build. So it's good for me. I never liked the PVP modes, people are too "sweaty" and just go around spam killing noobs so they cant ever get anywhere. I kid you not, it happened to me on my first game of rust.
