How to properly raid a base!
I understand that there's people that are either hesitant to raid or don't know how to raid. Raiding is an important part of the game, and is often a way to encourage the person being raided to bolster their defenses. First, there's a few rules that we need to get out of the way. I'll bet you're thinking "But hey, there's no rules in raiding!" This is true. These aren't those kind of rules.

Rule 1. When raiding, verbal abuse and harassment is not only allowed, but encouraged. Shaming the person that you're raiding is a form of victory, and may motivate the (assumed) peaceful player into pvp.

Rule 2. If you can't take it, then destroy it. It's imperitive as a raider to damage as much as you possibly can. This not only asserts dominance on the server, but also motivates the victim into joining pvp.

Rule 3. No mercy, no compassion. In fact, the best way to get loot and raid is by making "False Alliances" or befriending someone on the server for a week or so. When they go offline, raid their house. This will be a wakeup call for people to expect the unexpected.

What you will need to properly raid:
8+ C4 charges
5+ Rockets (For crowd control/cheap demolition)
2+ more people (Depending on the defenses of the fort)
End-game weapons (Assault rifles, Semi-automatic pistol, etc)
If a chopper shows up during a raid, utilize this to your advantage by getting it to shoot the base.

What to expect:
Multiple layers of defense
Fortified walls and structrues
TURRETS
locked chests
combatants

Step 1: Analyzing the fort from a distance and memorizing the patterns of the person you're raiding is a good diea. This should take about 3 hours if you decide to do so. Simply stand in a bush outside of their house, and memorize when they leave. Time to perfection, remember that.

Step 2: When the enemy is out of their house gathering resources, run up and listen for any particular sounds, that of a turret, furnace, etc. Whichever you hear, is where your breach is going to be.

Step 3: It's important to keep in mind that if you kill them, they'll respawn in their house (Probably the most fortified position). Don't kill them until they leave the second time.

Step 4: When it's night time, it's time to blow ♥♥♥♥ up. Start from the side of the fort that has the sounds most important (Turret > Furnace) and breach through with your C4. You'll likely have another wall to breach before you get to the turret. if there is any chests in this room, regardless of content, destroy or despawn any/all of the contents within the chest.

Step 5: After you breach through the second wall, you should see the turret. Hitting it just right will disable its shooting mechanism, and only make it follow you. Hit it with the best Melee weapon you have. if there is any chests in this room, regardless of content, destroy or despawn any/all of the contents within the chest.

Step 6: If they're smart, they will have placed a code-locked ladder. This may pose a problem. This is when you bring backup. Jump on top of your friends after C4-ing the ladder. You should be able to get up. if there is any chests in the room, regardless of content, destroy or despawn any/all of the contents within the chest.

Step 7: The instant you see a building cabinet, destroy it. Immideately afterwords, if there is any chests, regardless of content, destroy or despawn any/all of the contents within the chest. When that's over and done with, if you brought extra resoruces, spam the room with walls (Preferrably stone, assuming that you have destroyed any chests containing tools).

Step 8: When the person comes back or logs back on to see what you've done, you claim responsibility for it and say "Thanks for the free stuff, idiot." If you have friends, get them to gang up against him verbally. Don't hold back any insults.

Step 9: Revel in your new loot and the fact that you have unintentionally converted another player into KOS mentality. The game, for them, is now PVP as it was intended.

Now go out there, and raid some noobs.

yes rust is a survival game, but it's not a "let's be a douchebag to everybody we meet game" if you want that kinda crap then play on your own private servers not public ones, kinda hard to build a good community for a game if everyone is being a douchebag.

I think Minecraft or Unturned might be the kind of game that would suit you.

Bc when you're bad at the game you gotta resort to boring tactics.

less competition. It's easier to destroy a base and despawn their loot when they're not fighting back. I think people seem to be missing that this game does not revolve around the concept of being "Fair." If people want a hugbox, there's Minecraft.

Less competition or no competition? What you're describing sounds a lot more like erasing, not raiding. Btw the minecraft meme is old and only applies to kids, Rust being a 18+ game and all (oh the irony).

Erasing =/= Raiding in this game. Take everything, leave nothing, it's part of the game, and part of the risk of playing said game. I'd even encourage destroying the chests you looted after they're empty. I'm not sure if you're suited for multiplayer games (especially rust) if you can't comprehend complete and total destruction of the competition as well as asserting dominance over others. It's the way this game is, and it's eat or be eaten (both figuratively and very literally), something that only raiding and being raided constantly can show you.

I think that The Sims is probably more of your taste.

You know, you don't have to say you're not sure of something you don't know, that's obvious. Btw there's no correct way to play the game, if there was you'd be doing it wrong anyway. Also you wanna start name calling? Like i stated earlier, we're not kids (i'm not anyway). Enjoy playing solo.

Wow. Such an intense guide. There's 1001 ways to play Rust and this is one of them. Sounds more like erasing than raiding to me. :steammocking:

the Point we're all trying to make is this , not EVERY SERVER has to be full of Douche's and honestly killing helpless people when they're offline is hardly competition its a crap shoot what risk is there to the person who's doing the killing? none unless you're smart enough to park traps/etc in your base so people pay for every inch but that's a whole other story. Rust isn't Finished yet so nobody can say what it's SUPPOSED to be besides the developers short of some type of survival game, what type, well thats up to us and SOME of the playerbase choose not to be total canker sores.

There are players out there, who love this game and also raid and kill people, but not to erase them. What is your benefit, if you build walls in a raided base? What is your benefit, if you despawn all the ressources someone gathered in hard work?
This has nothing to do with the intention of the developers and has nothing to do with fair play.

I have raided bases and I have killed other players, but you can always pay respect to them. Just take the good loot and leave the rest, just kill other players if necessary and not when they are sleeping. That is playing rust in the most unfair way and that is the reason why a lot of players are disappointed. On most of the PvP servers KOS is practiced. which is realy annoying. Why should I kill someone just because he is running around??? If he attacked me, okay. If he raided me, okay. If he attacked or raided a friend, okay. But not just because he is on the server and not, when he is sleeping!

Rebigela 077, I would say you do this, because a raid while someone is in the base is to challenging for you. You are one of the poor guys who makes people believe you are friends and than raid their base when they are offline???? WTF?? How poor is that? How can a person be so mean? Sounds like you do not have friends in real life. If you do, I hope you will never treat them that way!!!
