Rust

Legitimate brainstorming about how to improve EAC
Lets actually try to come up with some ideas. Background story are as many of u have experienced, interesting encounters with hackers.
Just had one today: private profile, gamebanned 5 days ago, offlining straight after we went offline into two hidden armored bunkers. no single waste. It cant be that such a guy is even allowed to play rust. Like he got gamebanned just 5 days ago

Pretty sure they enjoy the extra cash, community servers prove there are many tools to combat the cheaters, and facepunch does none of them. Steam and facepunch could make cheating much harder and have way harder consequences for those that are caught.
Money makes the world go round.

everytime if a cheater gets banned they buy a new account that means every 1 ban = money

They buy stolen/hacked accounts, actually. FP doesn't get that money.

One idea that I had was to exclude, so not allow people who have recently cheated to play this game. Generally we all know that a hacker will stay a hacker. They won`t change their behaviour. If we can think of a timeframe such as 6 months ago, it would bring us further. What do you all think?

So facepunch and steam should work together to make accounts safe. None of us legit players would mind having to jump through some more hoops to play a cheat free game. Steam and facepunch make it easy to get a new account. Why do they do that? It's pretty obvious it's about the money. Profits would drop if accounts had to be verified, for a few reasons.

It's a good idea, some community servers do this.

Using steam authenticator and not clicking on sus links is all ppl need to do. It's not valve's or FP's fault people are stupid.

Yeah and even if they have Steam Guard enabled some people will just go and type their username, password, two factor, etc. into random skin giveaway websites, gambling websites, fake Twitch drops websites... enough to get on the account and start playing.

If we added another step then these phishing websites would just ask for that info too and people will give it.

No amount of account protection will help if someone is stupid enough to believe some completely random guy from the web saying that they are getting free expensive skins if they login with their steam acc on some sus af website they have never ever seen in their lives

How can you enforce that? How can you prove that they're aren't multiple people using one computer? Or living in the same house?

There would be lawsuits up the ass. So many people's accounts would be bricked. Mostly children and teens playing off of the family computer. You know, the target audience for video games.

The problem here is that there is no such thing as a cheat free game. Any game with pvp will also have cheaters, bots, and the like. Basically, cheaters and pvp go together like flies on poop.

Anticheat software only catches a fraction of the cheaters that are out there. And many of the ones it does catch will just come back with a new account to cheat again.

There's no such thing as zero cheat pvp. Best rip that bandaid off now.
